SharePoint: Fusion vs. MS Flow

  • MS Flow works great for SharePoint List Item manipulation.
Incorrect!
  • Fusion can embed parameterized calls to MS Flow (“Request” in Flow)
True
  • MS Flow is great for actions when a single item is created/updated and for approval workflows etc.
True

Fusion:

Volume (BULK) & High Performance:
Copy, Move, Create, Update, Delete, Transform & Migrate

Keep version & values:
Created, CreatedBy, Modified, ModifiedBy

Update columns by Label:
Lookup, Managed Metadata, Content-Type

Some FLOW PAINSSOLVED by FUSION:

  • Copy files without Losing important metadata
  • Fast and high volume processing of Items and files
  • Apply managed metadata, Content-Type and lookups by label
  • Test-mode for trying out the actions without committing them
  • Interactive as well as bulk enabled
  • Use local resources without any gateway
  • Track all actions for detailed analysts and reporting.

FLOW with SharePoint doesn’t always do it:

  • Let FLOW invoke FUSION Job(s)
  • Let FUSION run the SharePoint jobs (Task and Process)
  • Call FLOW from FUSION when job are complete, running or starts

Examples:
Invoke “Fusion Jobs” from Flow by adding an Item to a SharePoint List. The Fusion Server picks up the job, runs it and writes back status information along with comprehensive job log/tracking information. Pass in Parameters from Flow into the Fusion job prior to the start.

it is hard to believe when you push a button on your phone and then 10 seconds later a job starts running in Fusion .. and when the job completes, another flow takes over and sends a text message!

EASY, FAST, AND WITHOUT A SINGLE LINE OF CODE

Cool FUSION Framework:

  • Visually see input data and output data and be able to cancel or deselect
  • Test mode with visually resultant – where nothing gets updated
  • Job Log with tracking of what is going on. Input-data – output-data. parameters etc
  • More …
